TMG UNVEILS ‘THE SPINE’: EGYPT’S NEXT AMBITIOUS URBAN PROJECT

Egyptian real estate developer Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG) announced the launch of The Spine in the city of Madinaty, a EGP 1.4 trillion major mixed-use development designed to serve as a central lifestyle and commercial corridor—essentially intending to become the Downtown of eastern Cairo.
A corridor, not a compound: The Spine, which spans 2.4 million square meters, is more than a typical gated development or tower cluster. TMG is instead planning it as a linear urban corridor — the “central nervous system” of Madinaty — designed around movement, connectivity, and public life; at its core is a people-first approach, with plans for Cairo’s first car-free community featuring walkable streets, parks, promenades, and water features spanning over 1 million square meters, while a fully integrated underground logistics network will handle operations out of sight, keeping the surface dedicated to greenery and a “green and blue” infrastructure aimed at enhancing both the microclimate and overall urban experience.
A business haven: The project is highly ambitious, with plans for 165 towers that can stand as tall as 130 meters. Another impactful detail to emerge is the confirmation that The Spine will be located within a Special Investment Zone, bringing with it a package of tax, customs and regulatory incentives, accelerated licensing, flexible employment frameworks, and a dispute-resolution structure designed to reduce friction for international investors and businesses.
The project builds on Madinaty’s role as one of Egypt’s largest private urban developments, aiming to create a self-sustained commercial centre that reduces reliance on central Cairo while supporting new communities in the east. TMG continues to expand its portfolio of integrated cities, leveraging rising demand for modern, mixed-use developments that combine residential, business, and leisure spaces.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel, calling it a positive step toward easing tensions in a region strained by ongoing conflict. Cairo praised the ceasefire agreement, urging all parties to adhere fully to its terms and avoid actions that could reignite hostilities.
The ministry also emphasized the importance of sustaining calm on the Lebanese front, warning that continued escalation risks deepening humanitarian and security challenges across the region.
Diplomatic significance: The statement reflects Egypt’s ongoing role as a regional mediator, actively supporting de-escalation efforts amid the broader fallout from the Iran war and related conflicts. With the Middle East facing overlapping crises, the ceasefire offers a rare opening for stability—highlighting Egypt’s push for diplomacy to prevent a wider regional war and protect both security and economic interests.

Late last year, a Klimt sold for the highest price ever paid for modern art at auction.
An outlier sure, but it wasn't a fluke. U.S. auction sales grew 23.1% in 2025. The $1-5mm segment even grew 40.8% YoY.
Now, the S&P, teetering on all time highs, just posted its worst quarter since 2022, oil was up 94% (briefly), and Moody's puts recession odds at 48.6%.
Each environment is unique, but after dot-com, post war and contemporary art grew about 24% annually for a decade. After 2008, about 11% for 12 years.
It’s also had near-zero correlation with the S&P 500 since ‘95.*

EGYPT OPENS FIRST CHILD-FRIENDLY INVESTIGATION ROOMS

Egyptian authorities introduced its first child-friendly investigation rooms inside public prosecution offices, marking a major step toward more humane treatment of minors in the justice system.
Designed to reduce stress and trauma, the rooms feature a welcoming, non-intimidating environment with colorful décor, child-appropriate furniture, and trained specialists to support young victims and witnesses during questioning.
Why this matters: The initiative aims to protect children’s psychological wellbeing while improving the accuracy of testimonies, especially in sensitive cases such as abuse or violence. It also aligns with Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen child protection policies and rights within the legal system.
Officials say the rollout will gradually expand nationwide, signaling a shift toward a more child-centered approach in Egypt’s justice process.
